The Winchester Model 1912 is a pump-action shotgun with an external tube magazine that is often referred to as the Model 12 or M12. First known as the “Perfect Repeater,” it mainly established the benchmark for pump-action shotguns during the course of its 51-year, high-rate production life. Over two million Model 12 shotguns in various grades and barrel lengths were produced from August 1912 until they were first withdrawn by Winchester in May 1964. The 12 and 16 gauge versions, which were initially only chambered for 20 gauge, were released in 1913 (first appearing in the 1914 catalogs), and the 28 gauge version followed in 1934. A.410 version was never created; instead, the Model 42, a scaled-down variation of the Model 12, which was made from scaled designs, was constructed.
