The shotgun is made from designs developed in 1918 by Fritz and Georg Walther. Early in the 1920s, Deutsche Werke handled the first production, but Walther later enhanced it with improvements to the original design, including the inclusion of new elements like dust covers and strengthening ribs. The 1930s are believed to have seen the end of production.
