The Swedish inventor Carl Axel Theodor Sjögren created the Sjögren Inertia Shotgun, a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun that was first produced by AB Svenska Vapen- och Ammunitionsfabriken in Sweden and then by Hndvbenvaerkstederne Kjbenhavn in Denmark. It made use of an inertia mechanism that the Italian company Benelli later revived and is still extensively employed in shotguns today.

A few 7.62mm x 63 calibre semi-automatic military rifles based on the Swedish Mauser and fed from internal seven-round magazines were also constructed and tested by possible customers, but they were not successful in finding a market.
