The Pistole Parabellum, also known as the Parabellum-Pistole (Pistol Parabellum), is a toggle-locked recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol that is also referred to as the Luger or Luger P08. From 1898 to 1949, numerous countries and variants of the Luger were produced.
Georg Luger was the one to first patent the idea. The German firearms manufacturer Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken first created it under the name Parabellum Automatic Pistol, Borchardt-Luger System with the intention of improving the Borchardt C-93 handgun (DWM). The Modell 1900 Parabellum was the first production model. The “Marinepistole 1904” for the Imperial German Navy came after it.
