The Type 100 submachine gun, also known as the Hyaku-shiki kikan-tanj, was the only submachine gun that Japan produced in any quantity and was employed during World War II. It was produced in two basic varieties, the Type 100/40 and the Type 100/44, the latter of which was also known as the Type 100. (simplified). A few of the earlier models were changed to use folding stock, commonly known as the Type 100 naval by the Allies and designed for parachutists.
